What's the difference between ozone use to compress things and the ozone around us?

There's such a big thing about not using "ozone" to compress ges because it depletes are natural ozone. Wouldn't it be smart to use a ton of it to help replace the ozone were losing? Shouldn't they maybe call it something else?
