We are the Universe's attempt to understand itself - what do you think about that statement?

I agree. We are a part of the Universe, not just casual on-lookers. Interesting to think about the Universe as a living being. Since it can spawn life within its own boundaries, I suppose theoretically it is trying to understand itself. Kind of like the awkward teenage years on a cosmological scale.
