Black box algorithms................?

That is the problem with an investment system which is based only on back testing. Investment history rarely repeat itself the same way. I have invested in 2 of these sure fire systems and lost most my money both times. If a system does not have a verifiable or certified investment record based on actual investment results, don't waste your money on it.
